FAQS

Is dual citizenship legal?

Yes! Mexico and the United States do allow dual citizenship.

Dual citizenship is legal in nearly half of the world's countries, but laws and policies vary widely, with some countries allowing it without restrictions, others imposing certain conditions, and some not permitting it at all.

Am I eligible for Mexican citizenship?

Although our service primarily focuses on those who may qualify for citizenship by descent, in general, there are a few ways you can qualify:

1. Birth: Anyone born in Mexico, regardless of the nationality of their parents, is eligible for Mexican citizenship.

2. Descent: Those born abroad to a Mexican father are considered Mexican nationals under Mexico's constitution.

3. Naturalization: Requirements typically include a minimum period of residence in Mexico, demonstrating fluency in Spanish, knowledge of Mexican culture and history, and having an acceptable level of integration into Mexican society. The residency requirement may be reduced in certain cases, such as for individuals of Latin American or Iberian origin, or for those married to a Mexican national.

4. Marriage: A foreigner married to a Mexican national might be eligible for citizenship, usually after a specified period of marriage and residence in Mexico.

5. Significant influence in Mexico through Arts, Culture, Science, Sports or Trade/Investment.

What are the benefits to dual citizenship?

There are many! Easier travel to Mexico (no more $50+ USD tourism tax!), no time limitations, visa free travel to over 120 countries around the world, direct investment ownership, and improved legal standing to settle inheritance/property disputes are just a few to mention.
